Forgive me caller
Year 3 Semester 1
Forgive me Caller is an insight on what we, as a speaker, have the freedom to say when completely unknown. The installation offers a secluded area to confess whatever might be on your conscience. A curtain is what separates the interior from the exterior, offering a silhouette of the culpable when the booth is engaged. An intervention on the traditional catholic confession booth, the priest has been replaced by a telephone. Programmed to record your admission of guilt and in return, you receive a randomised confession recorded by another guilty patron. It is a transaction between strangers that connects them unknowingly.

“Intervention is often distinguished by a series of small moves consisting of cuts and additions which are in keeping” (Brooker and Stone, Re-readings, p 85).
